Pumpkin scones without a lot of sugar, but I did add a few white chocolate chips…does that count as sugar? My oldest won’t eat my scones if I drizzle the icing. I have to POUR the icing on, so: this batch is for you Logan.

We have done a lot of neat stuff lately, but I haven’t been keeping up with the posts. Sorry mamaw… We went to a Halloween party last weekend. Dalton was a “good ol’ boy” I was a military gal, Wyatt was ‘the dapper dude’ and Logan was Fred Flinstone, though he was a little thin for Fred.

Our first full summer in Colorado. We enjoyed our time together and did lots of fun stuff. The three summits we did: Sherman, Democrat and Quandary. Yeah!!

W was in a band this weekend. What a gracious bunch of folks to allow the boy to play with them. It went very well. He had to learn a B minor in order to get into the band. At one time there were about four men standing around teaching him how to do it so that he could get in. It was priceless.

I was also in a band. Played a little later in the evening so it was nice and dark. It doesn’t seem to get any easier up there on stage–the stage was a red pick up truck with a flat bed, parked in a field with a rigged spotlight. Lots of fun. As usual. Though Lo was not in a band this time around, he did take a few breaks during the morning gospel hour on Sunday morning. He did real well.

So, the friends we were with in Breck casually mentioned that there was a Bluegrass festival going on in Keystone with Peter Rowan as the headliner. Well! What a treat. Dalton and I headed over to catch Peter’s 3p show and wow! It was great. The weather, the view, the man….he sang all of our favorite songs. We enjoyed it so much.

The next morning he was giving a class on harmony singing. I went to that as well (our gracious hosts at the cabin allowed me to skip out on a bike ride). It was a real treat to meet the man in person.

We enjoyed a lovely weekend with friends at a cabin between Breck and Frisco. It was fun, strenuous at times (really very few times mountain biking), very relaxing and we all “gelled” very well. Sat around and read; looked out over the beautiful view; walked around town and generally enjoyed each other’s company. A great trip. We prepared and ate all of our meals in and enjoyed good food and some new games.

With his birthday money, W bought himself a Martin “backpacker” model Mandolin. It’s a travel mando. Light, portable and he loves it.

We recently welcomed the Blomes to the homestead. What fun! We loved having them here and miss them terribly already. What a great visit.

Lo was able to join a group of kids getting instruction in climbing the rocks inside Garden of the Gods.

The Reesmans visited us last month. It was a great visit and we enjoyed the time together. They brought a new game into the family: Farkle. The boys played it a lot and enjoyed it a bunch! Sweet Miss Debbie left the game for the kids.
